5th ANeT SEMINAR AND MEETING 2005, UNIVERSITI MALAYA, KUALA LUMPUR
ANeT, which is based in Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation, UMS is an international network for ant research (myrmecology) in Asia. The 5th ANeT Seminar and Meeting 2005 was held in Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur from 28th November until 4th December 2005 with the theme ‘Management of Ants’. A total of 40 papers under three main categories was presented. The three main categories are Biodiversity and Conservation; Ecology Behaviour and Physiology and Taxonomy and Biogeography. Prof. Datin Dr. Maryati, the president of ANeT presented a paper ‘Popularization of Ants’.
After three days seminar, all participants were brought to Ulu Gombak Forest Reserve for the excursions. One action plan entitles Ants in Biodiversity Conservation in Asia has been made with the aim to harness and direct the accumulation of knowledge and expertise on ants towards the conservation of biological diversity in Asia. Committee members also decided to choose India as the next venue for the 6th ANeT Meeting and Seminar 2007. Thank you Kuala Lumpur and see you again in India.
